US state outlines: US Census Bureau cartographic boundaries (public domain), via us-atlas.
Cities and capitals: GeoNames, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Positions and populations come from the GeoNames cities15000 and country-info files.
Landmarks, peaks, islands, lakes, waterfalls and volcanoes: Wikidata, CC0. How well-known a place is comes from its number of Wikipedia language editions, as recorded in Wikidata.
